Not only do criminals do everything they can to avoid committing crimes in monitored areas, should a crime occur you will have a picture of the culprit. This evidence is not only useful to the police and courts for catching and prosecuting criminals, but insurance companies too will give you a much easier time when you file a claim for theft or damage and have video evidence to prove. Some insurance companies may even offer you a discount if you install them.
