The Men Who Stare At Goats
Much more interesting then its title is the book/documentary by British journalist Jon Ronson. When Ronson hears about a covert military unit that attempts to create soldiers that can stop animals hearts simply by staring at them he decides to follow the story. The story takes him through some of the most fringe elements of the United States intelligence units who are attempting to harness mind control and physics for military applications.
Boing Boing recently had a nice little blurb about Ronson and his book, as well as a link to his fascinating documentary which his book is based on.
Its hard to believe such crazy things are being sponsored by our government, and its amazing how the governments interested automatically lends a sense of legitimacy to programs even after seeing the lunatics that dreamed them up.
