Mexican have a good knowledge of their history and patriotic feelings about the Mexican American war and land sales that saw the country lose control of California, Colorado, and Arizona, as well as Texas which defected to the United States. The ad shows what Mexico would look like in an Absolut world. Naturally the Americans who see the ad are more then a little offended. The number of offended continues to rise with the LA times publishing the advertisement on their website. Its certainly a big risk on Absolut’s part, and although it seems to have paid off in Meixco only time will tell on whether or not the ad receives much exposure in the United States, something that would surely damage the companies sales.
